  3. Shootout at FATLAN13

The past weekend Gamevibes was present at the Belgian LAN event FATLAN, which had its 13th edition. Both Camille and Charlotte Van Brabander, our gaming sisters, were present to represent Kingston and GIGABYTE in a duo-shootout concept at the main stage. Besides fragging away against various competitors, the most famous gaming sisters of the Benelux also conducted several interviews with national and online media.

Included in the interview list were JIM TV, Canvas (Phara), Kaos TV and NCC Gaming. A fruitful event for sure. Gamevibes has several other shootouts planned in the upcoming weeks but unfortunately both Camille and Charlotte won't be available for those but they will happily be replaced by other Antwerp Aces players.

22/05/2010: Shootout open day Alternate Aartselaar (Antwerp) in cooperation with Kingston

29/05/2010: Shootout during the Saturn Game Event in the Stadsfeestzaal Antwerpen in cooperation with HP, Acer, Asus, Packard Bell, Steelseries and obviously Saturn.

  4. Antwerp Aces.CS touring Europe

The Antwerp Aces Counter-Strike 1.6 team has been extremely succesful lately and has managed to qualify for the IOL finals in Stockholm, Sweden. Here they will compete with the best teams of Sweden as well as some international powerhouses. After this trip they have planned another trip to the biggest offline gaming event in the world: Dreamhack. The team won the Benelux qualifier and will be packing their bags to Jonnkoping to compete together with nearly 10,000 other gamers in the world's largest LAN party. But their tour of Europe doesn't end here as they will also travel down to Bilbao in Spain for the Gamegune event, arguably one of the most competitive Counter-Strike 1.6 tournaments in the world.

We would like to wish the team the best of luck at these events and expect some live updates from these events soon.

Together with Gigabyte and Kingston, Gamevibes was present at the Tech Data Partner event in Nieuwegein, The Netherlands to display the famous Gamevibes shootout concept. Antwerp Aces player Thomas "ed" Stellingwerf was in the spotlight on the stage to showcase his skills and the latest Kingston and Gigabyte products and challenged everyone to a 1vs1 duel in the game Counter-Strike Source. With over 100 challengers throughout the day, Thomas managed to beat them all and didn't lose a single game. Quite the feat for the Antwerp Aces player who played some experienced and less experienced players.

The Tech Data Partner Event is an annual show organized by one of the largest IT distribution chains in the Netherlands: Tech Data. It shows the latest products from their vendors to retailers across the country.

We are looking forward to the next event!

  9. Shootout at HME

    HME Gigabyte
Together with our partner Gigabyte, Gamevibes held a three day shootout in Utrecht, The Netherlands during the trade fair called HME, which is short for Het Multimedia Event. All visitors could participate in a 1vs1 against Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander as she took them on in the game Counter-Strike Source on our Gigabyte stage.

With many top players from the Benelux visiting the event it proved to be a daunting challenge for Charlotte to keep beating the boys but she managed to do so in style as participant after participant was beaten back and defeated. In the end however, the best participants walked away with a cool prize. We handed out two graphics cards and a wonderful Gigabyte case as well during these three days.

  15. TEK9 Becomes part of the Heaven Media Group

    For immediate release

23rd June 2009 (Huntingdon, UK): Today we are very proud to announce that TEK9 will become part of  the Heaven Media Group. TEK9 has slowly but steadily been expanding over the years to become the number one portal for Call of Duty related gaming news and has, over time, become the largest worldwide community with over 38,000 registered members and well over 100,000 unique visitors each month. With that in mind the plans for our teams and players did not really fit the plans we had for the website anymore and a solution had to be found. With Heaven Media as our new partner we will be able to take huge steps forward for this community and website.

Heaven Media will purchase the TEK9 website and together we will set out a plan for the future.  Investments into the site will be made so that we can further expand the quality and quantity of our news, coverage and content offered to our visitors. Further investments also include better backing for the site backend and for the staff working on the site every single day. Apart from some minor changes to the design of the website, the core of TEK9 will remain absolutely intact with the only difference being that we will offer more at a better quality!

Statement Steven Leunens, CEO Gamevibes BVBA and new eSport Specialist within Heaven Media: “I’m very excited about this deal and so is the rest of the TEK9 staff and management. Heaven Media will guarantee us the stability and security we need and the resources required to further expand the quality of our site. I can see only great things coming from this partnership both with the renewed strength of the TEK9 community and the new team we will start, the Antwerp Aces. A part of me is sad because this also means we will not see another TEK9 team fight it out on the battlefields but that sadness is quickly put aside when I know a different team will be fighting an entirely different battle to bring you the best eSports website possible. I am also looking forward to working together with everyone in Heaven Media as I feel we are completely on the same page with our future goals and plans.”

Statement Adam Godfrey, Business Development Manager Heaven Media Ltd.:  “After the addition of both Cadred and Crossfire to Heaven Media in the last 18 months TEK9 was a clear decision for us. TEK9 has a great reputation and a growing audience, there is a great deal of synergy and it will fit well within our portfolio.  TEK9 readers can expect to see increased coverage, new content and further investment in the expansion of the TEK9 brand. Steven's addition to our team provides us with a great deal of specialised expertise and he will be working closely with us to deliver many exciting products in the future”
Whilst TEK9 as a team will be no longer, Gamevibes are announcing a new project today to fill the gap. The Antwerp Aces have been launched and you can find more information on www.antwerpaces.be .

  16. The Antwerp Aces are born

    For immediate release

23rd June 2009 (Geel, Belgium) With the growth of the website of TEK9 into one of the largest portals for Call of Duty related news and coverage, the orientation for the teams and players didn’t fit the overall profile of TEK9 anymore. With this in mind we decided to take the whole team into a completely new direction and with this new direction also comes a new name. TEK9 will continue onwards as your number one Call of Duty and eSports portal and signs a deal with Heaven Media. The teams and players will now be housed in the ANTWERP ACES organization founded by Gamevibes BVBA.

The concept of the Antwerp Aces is very simple. Go local! Antwerp will be the obvious home of the Antwerp Aces and we will have a club house in the centre of Antwerp as part of Outpost Antwerp, the LAN centre mostly known internationally for the Outpost on Fire events held there. Outpost will also become a title sponsor of the Antwerp Aces. From this club house, we will organize monthly events at which everyone is welcome: fans, local supporters and gaming enthusiasts alike. These monthly events will be a celebration of gaming, both competitive and casual. Small competitions will be accompanied by beers and food and the release of the latest CHIEF magazine before it even hits the shelves. You will be able to see unreleased footage of new games and the events will also feature a new game release each month, you might even be able to play unreleased games in exclusive preview. All this will be taken care of by our second title sponsor CHIEF gaming magazine. Expect the first events somewhere in September!

But besides the events the focus is also on the players and the teams representing the Antwerp Aces. We have taken a decision to pick only those players who fit the team perfectly. The players we select to play for the Antwerp Aces are a mix of talented Benelux gamers and good personalities. Although these gamers are considered to be the top of the Benelux, talent alone does not get you selected for the Antwerp Aces. In the weeks before the release of this news the teams, players and management have already become friends and regular meeting in Antwerp will be seen quite often. It’s quite clear that we have gone for local instead of international. All teams and players from TEK9 have come across with us and we also see the addition of a Counter-Strike Source team, a DOTA team and a Trackmania and Quakelive player.

The players and teams will be supported to all Benelux LAN events and we will see them in action for the first time at the EPS Finals in Utrecht. Counter-Strike Source, Counter-Strike 1.6 and FIFA will battle it out to be crowned the best of the Benelux in their discipline.

Statement Sam Janssens, Manager of the Antwerp Aces: “ It’s been a while since we’ve had any good gaming related initiatives in Belgium, but today I present you the Antwerp Aces gaming club. Another gaming team you’ll think, but the Antwerp Aces club is more than that! We will bring you a lot of action starting the fourth quarter of 2009 but more news about that will be published later on. Besides the action you will see the presence of our teams at events across the Benelux and regularly in our clubhouse Outpost  in Antwerp where a lot of the action will take place. We will announce regular get-togethers and everyone is welcome to join us in some gaming fun! Besides that we will be backed up by our long time partner and gaming magazine CHIEF to take this new project to the next level. “

For more information on the teams and players of the Antwerp Aces please visit the website www.antwerpaces.be

  17. Registrations for Outpost on Fire 3 are going well

With the entire community buzzing about the new event we are doing, signups are filling up nicely. In fact, the Call of Duty 4 tournament is nearly sold out. Already we can say that both tournaments will have the top European teams attending and we have over 15 different nationalities confirmed to come.

With this news we can also confirm the first two bronze partners of the event. These are:

    Gamegear - www.gamegear.be
    Antec - www.antec.com

Furthermore we would also like to remind people of our deal with the Hilton hotel. This amazing 4 star hotel is located just one minute away of the event.

You can only book using one of the following methods:

    Special booking code = gamevibes
We also have a special booking form that people can use when booking via fax. Message me on IRC or bug me via mail to get this booking form. For those of you who forgot, here are the special deals with the Hilton again:

  20. Gamevibes to host the FOM CSS and FIFA competitions

FOM, which stand for Frag-O-Matic, is Belgian's largest LAN party, gunning for 800 participants for their February 2009 (20-22nd) edition. FOM has chosen two competitions to be their pro competitions with a boosted prize purse, and Gamevibes has the honours to run these events in the most professional manner possible.

    These competitions are:

    Counter-Strike Source
    Prize purse : 2000 € CASH
    Max. teams : 32
Registration fee (total per team): 150 €
Tournament structure: group stages and single elimination (b03)
BYOC with option to rent PC's and finals on tournament PC's on stage

    FIFA 2009

  21. Happy New Year

Although we are a couple of days late in posting this on the website, the entire staff, management and everyone involved would like to wish everyone the best of luck in the new year and that it may bring everything you dreamed of.

For Gamevibes, 2009 will prove to be a interesting year with many things already in the pipelines and several projects beginning to shape up a little bit. For those interested in finding out what the new year will bring to Gamevibes I would sugges you keep checking back here for the latest news and updates on our brands and the new projects we are working on.

  22. New Gamevibes website launched !

Welcome to the new Gamevibes website. We felt it was time for a change and that is why we started the development of a new Gamevibes website, so we could cater even better to the needs of the companies interested in venturing into the gaming industry. With a more detailed list of services, case studies (more to come), contact information, company information and much more we hope this website will also help promote gaming and eSports and bring new companies into the wonderful world of gaming.

With 2009 fast approaching, we are certain a lot of new doors will be opened in the gaming industry, and with that being said, we would also like to wish every gamer our there a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with lots of frags, games and wonderful events!

  23. CHIEF/OPM and Gamevibes present at HME 2008

Just a couple of weeks before the event we received an invitation from the organizers of "Het Multimedie Event" (HME) to be present with CHIEF and Officieel Playstation Magazine at the largest games and multimedia event in the Benelux area during 28-29 and 30 November 2008. Another challenge presented us because unlike a couple of weeks before, we did not have the time and space to build an extensive booth. With only 60m² available, and a good two weeks to go from scratch to the event itself, time was indeed an issue.

Chosing again for the proven worth of the shootout concept, we added an information section and a promowall where people could have their picture taken with any of our 5 lovely hostesses. These pictures will be uploaded to the website of CHIEF and OPM afterwards so people can relive the moment!

The success of the shootout was proven once again as players flocked to the booth to challenge the TEK9 FIFA and Counter-Strike players for a quick duel. With this success behind us the intention is already there to continue with an intensified shootout series in 2009 together with CHIEF.

  24. Gamevibes and CHIEF partner up for NEXT 2008

With the success of the Gamepower EXPO in 2007, Belgium was bound to have a successor for this great event. 2008 saw the birth of the NEXT Expo, a gaming, electronics and IT fair where people from all over Belgium flock to if they want the latest news, gadgets and games.

Also present were gaming magazines CHIEF and Officieel Playstation Magazine and they came to us to create a little buzz during the fair. With multinationals such as Nintendo, Sony, Samsung and more present, there was going to be a fierce competition on which booth would be the nicest so a tough challenge lied ahead.

Gamevibes created an interactive booth with the following aspects:

    The CHIEF booth (300m²)

    * 8 gaming stations with a daily Trackmania competition
    * a gaming vault with 1500 € worth of prizes to be won each day
    * a shootout against Davy Sysmans of the TEK9 team
    * a relax area to watch the shootout, the big screen or just rest a little bit
    * a large screen with a livestream from the World Cyber Games finals in Cologne, gaming movies and much more
    * an information centre to get a subscription for the magazine
    * 6 lovely hostesses to guide you around

The Officieel Playstation Magazine booth (100m²)

    * 4 Playstation 3's with EXCLUSIVE releases (European or World premieres)
    * an information desk to subscribe
    * 4 lovely hostesses to guide you around

The XL gaming area (800m² - courtesy of NEXT)

    * a HUGE screen to play games on 1vs1
    * a large spectator area

With nearly 20,000 spectators the event was a success and Davy was undefeated in the shootout. You will find a more detailed recap online shortly.

  28. Gamevibes and Fucapo partner up

Today we announce the addition of candy manufacturer Fucapo as one of our new partners. First of all, Fucapo will become a new partner of the highly succesful TEK9 Gaming team, supporting them both financially and with their Fucapo Blue Energy tabs to boost the enery levels of our players at all times!

Furthermore, Gamevibes has signed a cooperation deal with Fucapo making us the marketing and promotion partner for Belgium. Together with Gamegear, who will handle distribution and shipping, Gamevibes will be promoting and expanding the Fucapo brand in Belgium. We will be present at several of Belgium's largest LAN's, such as OCC and FOM and not to forget our very own Antwerp eSports Festival. Furthermore we will also be handling all sponsorship deals made in Belgium.

This means that if you have a LAN party, team or Belgian based gaming or review website, you could be getting your very own Fucapo sponsorship very soon! Applications are welcome at steven[a-t]gamevibes.be but no applications from outside Belgium (or perhaps the Benelux) will be considered. Anyone else is free to send an email stating why they should be sponsored by Fucapo and we will review it accordingly! Anyone interested in selling the Fucapo products can also send me an email!

You can also expect some Fucapo competitions over the next couple of weeks/months on the TEK9 website and also an extensive review of the Fucapo Blue Energy tabs!
